John Feinstein Undergoes Bypass Surgery

by Will Flaherty on June 30, 2009

Washington Post columnist, NPR contributor and two-time former Chronicle sports editor John Feinstein, Trinity ‘77, underwent a heart bypass operation Monday morning, according to his blog Feinstein on The Brink.

Feinstein, a prolific author with a score of best sellers covering everything from golf to college basketball, has long been a friend and contributor to the Chronicle, most recently writing a 2006 piece for Towerview entitled “Fixing Football”. His 1989 book “A Season on the Brink,” which chronicled one year with Bob Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers, is the best-selling sports book of all time.

All of us here at The Chronicle wish Feinstein a speedy recovery.
