Henderson Names His Best Dunk

by Ben Cohen on January 10, 2010

Know what I do when Duke loses? I go to YouTube, and I watch Gerald Henderson dunk over people. (OK, maybe this cure was more effective when, you know, Henderson still wore No. 15 for Duke, but let’s not get nitpicky here.) So it was completely fortuitous that I recently ran across Dime’s interview with [...]

No matter what you think of journalistic ramifications of the apparently imminent TMZSports.com — whether it will be a failure, cause a tabloid war, change the gossip game or, simply, make an icksickle — the effects will probably be more profound for athletes than journalists.
But how will it alter the athletes who don’t seem to have [...]

Obama Shows Aide No Love

by Taylor Doherty on October 9, 2009

President Barack Obama said he was “both suprised and deeply humbled” after winning the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. But after blocking personal aide and former Blue Devil Reggie Love, the president was quick to claim bragging rights.
As Fox News’s Anne Marie Riha reported on Thursday, Obama quickly had a photo enlarged to document the lighthearted moment:
White House Press [...]

A large, tattooed man robbed a SunTrust bank in Raleigh Wednesday.
The criminal mastermind’s attire of choice? A No. 21 Cleveland Cavaliers Trajan Langdon jersey. No word yet on whether he decided to leave his William Avery authentic at home.
Of course, this comes on the heels of a sort of Langdon renaissance—Wale, in his interview for [...]

Paulus Named Starting QB At Syracuse

by Ben Cohen on August 17, 2009

Syracuse’s football opener Sept. 5 against Minnesota just became must-see TV in Durham.
That’s because Greg Paulus, the former Blue Devil point guard using a fifth year of eligibility to play football for the Orange, has won the nod as the Orange’s starting quarterback, the program announced in a statement Monday night. Paulus beat out sophomore [...]

Last week, the nation became utterly transfixed by a phenomenon so sweeping it required just one name: Pauluspalooza. Err, scratch that. Make it Greg-A-Palooza.
That’s what the creators of the must-have-of-the-week wrote in an e-mail Sunday to those who had ordered the keepsake. Some “legal issues” with Syracuse University forced them to modify the first edition [...]

We thought the atmosphere surrounding Greg Paulus at Syracuse was oddly circus-like. Turns out, it was more of, um, a Pauluspalooza.
After all, the Greg Paulus World Tour, hatched as parody back in May, was confined to cyberspace. But the 2009 Pauluspalooza Homecoming Tour is very much a real thing, and it’s going to cost $13.99 [...]
