Duke Rises to No. 7 in AP Poll

by Scott Rich on January 18, 2010

Three observations on this week’s AP Top 25:
1) Duke is still ranked behind a three-loss Michigan State team. Now, this may irk me more than most because, well, I have a history with the Spartans, but although Michigan State has been more impressive as of late, they still have one more loss than the Blue Devils [...]

Duke Falls to No. 8 in Latest AP Poll

by Scott Rich on January 11, 2010

Three observations on this weeks AP Top 25:
1. Somehow, Duke is ranked behind a three-loss Michigan State team. The Spartans just edged out the Blue Devils for the seventh spot in the AP poll despite having one more loss.  This is surprising given the difficulty of Duke’s schedule thus far, and the fact that both [...]

Duke Climbs to No. 5 in AP Poll

by Taylor Doherty on January 5, 2010

Three observations on this week’s Associated Press Top 25:
1. Duke finds some room closer to the top of the poll. After Syracuse and West Virgina dropped to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, Duke found itself the fifth ranked team in college basketball—ranked behind only the four unbeaten programs (Kansas, Texas, Kentucky, Purdue). Both Syracuse and [...]

Lacrosse insiders agree: John Danowski’s squad will start the season as the team to beat in college lacrosse.
A month after Inside Lacrosse ranked Duke No. 1 in its preseason rankings, Lacrosse Magazine followed suit, putting the Blue Devils at the top of the poll. In addition to choosing Duke, which lost in last year’s Final Four [...]

Duke Sees No Movement In AP Top 25

by Taylor Doherty on December 28, 2009

Three observations on this week’s Associated Press Top 25:
1. Duke stays put at No. 7. The Blue Devils haven’t played a game since their Dec. 19 contest against Gonzaga, when they defeated the Bulldogs 76-41 in Madison Square Garden. Duke will face Long Beach State (6-6) tomorrow at 7 p.m.
2. The ACC currently has four [...]

Duke Stays Put At No. 7

by Ben Cohen on December 22, 2009

Three observations on this week’s Associated Press Top 25:
1. There’s a pretty sound consensus that Duke is the seventh-best team in the country. The great majority of voters slotted Duke No. 7 this week, with the Provo Daily Herald’s Jason Franchuk and WCMC Raleigh’s Tim Hall giving the Blue Devils their highest vote at No. [...]

Finally, Duke is moving on up again.
After slipping in the polls for three straight weeks, the Blue Devils jumped from No. 9 to No. 7 Monday after a two-win week that included a 101-91 victory over then-No. 8 Wake Forest Sunday. Duke was ranked No. 1 Jan. 26, but fell to [...]

Duke Slips To No. 6 In Rankings

by Ben Cohen on February 9, 2009

A 27-point loss to Clemson only cost Duke two spots in the polls.
The Blue Devils only slipped to No. 6 in the Associated Press poll one week after sitting at No. 4 and two weeks after topping the polls. They are No. 5 in the ESPN/USA Today poll.
Ahead of Duke: No. 1 Connecticut, No. 2 [...]
