According to a press release issued by the Cape Cod Baseball League, Duke outfielder/pitcher Alex Hassan has signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox, who drafted him in the 20th round of this year’s MLB First-Year Player Draft. Just as they do back home at Jack Coombs Field, Duke rising seniors Alex Hassan, Jeremy Gould, and Michael Ness have been trotting out to take the field together this summer.
But this time, the name on the front of their jerseys doesn’t read Duke.

On Sunday, when they were supposed to be graduating from college, five baseball players and seven women’s lacrosse athletes were busy representing the University on the field.
